Lechon is one of Cebu’s products everyone is crazy about trying when they step at this famous Queen City of the South. That’s why when I saw a food hub that offers Liloan, Cebu’s pride, I rushed to finally try it.

From seeing one in SM North Edsa (it was a kiosk, I believe), I finally saw another one last Saturday at the 3rd floor of RCBC, Plaza, Makati, where some of my clients are stationed and where I usually do my meetings (Stabucks in front of Fitness First, thumbs up!). At last, Liloan’s Pride Liempo, here I come!

That was the taste test. And I was really hoping for an excellent, native Cebu lechon taste/experience!

I got both their spicy version, which I so love (spicy man!) and their regular one. The lechon liempo skin was expected- crunchy, tasteful and seriously seasoned (remembering my days in Cebu when I ordered half a kilo and munched it for an hour, nahilo ako after! lol).

The meat however is a little salty, I was thinking why they weren’t serving the regular sauce/gravy (yung parang Mang Tomas, lol). When I finally asked for it, they pointed the vinegar bottle in front of me, it was a specialty mixed-vinegar. I tried it and boom! It made the lechon liempo the best tasting one, as it seasoned it further and balanced the taste. Panalo!

See below images of what I got from my visit. Kung hindi ka natakam, OMG, hindi ko na alam! LOL

Aside from their sumptuous Cebu Lechon, they are also serving other pinoy delish dishes that will surely turn your meal into a filling one. Below are three of the favorites:

  • Their version of Crispy Garlic Bangus, served with a heap of garlic bits that made it super special for me.
  • The Classic Sizzling Sisig topped with fresh egg and sprinkled with garlic- sarap pampulutan, as usual!
  • Beef Pares – tasty tender beef in a piping-hot broth. You will surely order your series of extra rice if you have this on the table. #busoglusog

I’ve been away for so many years, I have not heard of Liloan. It looks like some version of Lechon with a special sauce on top. The sauce covers all the fat. Looks good but too much cholesterol!

Thanks Ms. Rose for your comment. I hope you can visit Philippines again. And yes, it’s another version of Lechon Cebu, marinated and roasted to perfection, another yes to cholesterol! 🤣🤣 Good thing I can still control myself. LOL

I might go home next year and my brother promises to take me to Cebu. His wife is from there, a member of the Bongo family of Cebu. I try not to eat too much fatty food though. Maligayang Pasko!
