In a world where everything seems fleeting and mass-produced, there remains something profoundly grounding about pottery – the touch of clay, the patience of shaping, and the heartbeat that lives within every vessel. This October 18, Tahanan Pottery celebrated its 5th anniversary through Sining Tahanan: Ceramic Art Fair 2025; TIBOK – Vessels of Form and Pulse, a special gathering that beautifully captured the rhythm of artistry, culture, and human spirit.

A Celebration of Art, Culture, and Community

The culminating day held on October 18 was both a private viewing and media call for TIBOK, featuring 27 talented Tahanan Pottery artists. Each ceramic piece reflected the pulse of the human spirit — vessels of both form and emotion. Guests were given exclusive first access to these one-of-a-kind creations, each echoing the heartbeat of its maker.

The ceremonial recreation of pukpok palayok tradition led by renowned UK ceramicist Louisa Taylor

But the art fair wasn’t just about ceramics, it was a full celebration of Filipino culture and tradition. Guests were treated to awe-inspiring performances that blended art with heritage: the graceful Manobo cultural dance and an ethnic dance accompanied by traditional Muslim instruments that brought the rhythm of the south to life. One of the highlights was the ceremonial recreation of pukpok/basagang palayok tradition. Its symbolic breaking was led by renowned UK ceramicist Louisa Taylor, who joined the local community in a gesture of unity and good fortune. The sound of the pot breaking signified success, renewal, and the continuous creation of something meaningful.

The Heartbeat of Tahanan Pottery

Founded by Ms. Rita Badilla-Gudiño and Mr. Vicente Gudiño, Tahanan Pottery began as a humble studio and has grown into a vibrant creative hub for artists, students, and enthusiasts alike. Over the years, it has become a sanctuary for those who find peace and purpose in molding clay — a “home” where hands and hearts meet.

From its cozy workshop atmosphere to its curated collection of ceramic art, Tahanan Pottery reflects the Filipino love for craftsmanship – where every curve, crack, and glaze tells a story. Filipinos have always been drawn to pottery because it mirrors our own nature: resilient, adaptable, and deeply connected to the earth. Through the years, the center has inspired many to slow down, create with intention, and rediscover the joy of handmade art. Know more about this amazing art shop here.
